In the meantime, Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has given a big information. The Union Minister said that India is the third largest energy consumer in the world. In such a situation, the price of petrol and diesel in India will decrease soon. Hardeep Singh Puri said that wherever we get cheap oil, we will buy it.

Cheap petrol will be available
He informed this information at India Energy Week. Along with this he said that along with India’s energy security we need to ensure availability of cheap petrol to our citizens. It also reflects the Prime Minister’s long-term vision for India’s role in the global energy transition.

How much is being imported?
Along with this, Puri said the country meets 85 percent of its oil needs and about 50 percent of natural gas through imports. At the same time ethanol derived from sugarcane and other agricultural sources is being blended into petrol to reduce import dependency. Currently, the country is importing at a large rate.

20 percent ethanol will be available by 2025
Importing to reduce dependence on other countries. Along with this, Puri said the government has set a target of 20 percent ethanol blending in petrol by 2025. Apart from this, there are plans to take the country forward in the field of green energy.

India imports oil from 39 countries
Giving more information, Hardeep Singh Puri said that currently India is using its large market to buy oil. They said we are using market card. Apart from this, we will import oil from wherever we get it at a low price. In 2006-07, India imported oil from 27 countries. At the same time, this number has increased to 39 in 2021-22. Currently India imports oil from 39 countries. These include Colombia, Russia, Libya, Gabon and Equatorial Guinea. This has made Russia the largest oil supplier to India.
