The government today said 42.7 lakh loans amounting to over five thousand crore rupees have been disbursed to 34.47 lakh street vendors under Prime Minister Street Vendor’s AtmaNirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) scheme in the country till 23rd of last month. In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha, Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said PM SVANidhi scheme was launched to facilitate a collateral-free working capital loans to street vendors to restart their businesses. He said around four lakh loans were provided to minority street vendors under the scheme.
