Smart City | Chandigarh constantly performing well in Swachh Survekshans: Hardeep Singh Puri

Minister of State (IC) for Housing and Urban Affairs, Hardeep Singh Puri stated that Chandigarh is a city that has constantly performed well in Swachh Survekshans from the last five years which include solid waste management (SWM) as one of the major parameters. The Minister stated this in a written reply submitted to the Lok Sabha on September 22.

In addition, to improve the performance further in the solid waste management category effective steps have been taken by the government. Some of the measures taken include funding of SWM projects, issuance of directions, advisories and guidelines on SWM (door-to-door collection, source segregation and processing), organising capacity building (CB) workshops, reviewing performance periodically, etc.
